Durham vocal festival 2018

Saturday 27th January – Saturday 10th February

It is a great pleasure to share with you the exciting details of Durham Vocal

Festival 2018. Now in it’s second year, this year’s festival promises to be

even more exciting than the last, celebrating the very best that vocal

music has to offer.

DVF 2018 showcases many differing styles of vocal music with fantastic

artists such as Roderick Williams, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment,

Mahogany Opera Group and Will Todd. Performances range from Choral

Music of North East based chamber choirs to a semi-staged performance of

Purcell’s The Fairy Queen in Durham Cathedral.

Heritage and tradition sit side by side with modern vocal performance skills

from the beautiful Candlemas at Durham Cathedral to the acapella evening

featuring Northern Lights from Durham University and Urban Voice from

Egglescliffe School.

This year will feature the inaugural community choir concert at Durham

Cathedral featuring 12 community choirs and artists in residence the

world famous vocal ensemble Apollo5.

This event would not be possible without numerous partners and sponsors,

including Arts Council England, Durham Music Service and Trust and

Durham County Council.

I look forward to welcoming you to performances and events throughout the
